La Niña Barro

(2014)

A meditative and intimate piece of theatre that activates all the senses. Based on a collection of over 20 poems by Spanish writer Marta Massé, the show invites the audience to share the journey of a girl made of mud who struggles to understand her feelings about herself and the connections she has with earth, nature, life, and love, combining spoken word, music, and physical theatre.

The piece premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2014, when it was censored by the venue due to its use of non-sexual nudity. It has since toured around Spain, Brazil, Uruguay, and the USA, winning the Impact Award at the 5th Small-Scale Theatre Festival in Miami and making the cover of the Godoff magazine in Madrid, a publication specialised in dance and physical theatre.

REVIEWS

“A magical experience to watch”
(AllEdinburgh Theatre)

“It is easy to speak of life and the wonders of human nature with trite, meaningless and fluffy words. It is harder but far more effective to show these things, as La Niña Barro does”
(A Younger Theatre)

“Un gran resultado en escena, que combina en un mismo trabajo la manera de sintetizar la comprensión de un gran texto, construido desde la imagen de mujer que quiere ser de su propio barro y no resultado de las manos ajenas”
(La República Cultural)
